From May 15 to 16, 2025, ISPR participated in project learning and reflection with partners organized by Saferworld in Nairobi, Kenya. The project learning and reflection was conducted with support from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) under the project Strengthening locally led solutions to intersecting peace, gender, and climate challenges in the borderlands of Kenya, South Sudan, and Uganda. The purpose of the in-project learning and reflection was to enhance understanding. Reflection allows ISPR and partners to evaluate project performance, identify strengths and weaknesses, and learning from successes and failures. To develop a shared vision of the intricate nexus between climate change, gender relations, and conflict in border regions and how the Austrian Development Agency project enables community-driven innovation as a core intervention strategy, generating synergies with other ongoing interventions and processes. To identify and respond to associated risks and ensure alignment of the project with success factors and sustainability principles, and to optimize interaction, learning exchange, and actionable results over two interactive days. ISPR is contributing to addressing the climate change and conflict challenge, as noted in South Sudan, where climate change and peacebuilding are deeply intertwined, exacerbating existing conflict dynamics and requiring integrated approaches.
